The autumn drilled crops of Oilseed Rape and Winter Wheat have come through the mild winter looking exceptionally strong. The field operations over the last 10 weeks have been based on building the green canopy and keeping the crops free of weeds and disease.
The end of February and the beginning of March was cold and damp. Spring crop drilling started in earnest during mid-March with Spring Malting Barley. The first week of April saw Spring Barley fields being sown. Linseed followed once soil temperatures reached 7 degrees c.
